How to JOIN quilting block swaps Australia

Hello and thank you for visiting. This is a community group for all Australian quilters to join or just follow. Membership is FREE and you are partnered each month and we make each other a 12 inch quilt block based on our preferences which we swap. (12.5 inches raw edge to raw edge) The emphasis of the group is on friendship and sharing. To find out more or register to join email me on quiltingblocks@hotmail.com This purpose of this blog is to chat and showcase blocks and quilts made by members, kind of like a show and tell . January Swap

I received this beautiful block today from Brenda in Ohio. It's called Stripes a Spinning - one for the future perhaps (looks a little technical to me).

Thank you

December blocks from Spain

Encarna was my December 12" partner - she stitched me 3 delightful "Scrapbagger" blocks, and also included some handmade wooden buttons. My planned project is a scrappy quilt made of Scrapbagger and Goose Creek blocks. Thank you, Kerry

Special December swap

Anna was my December swap partner.
When she had received her block from me I received a beautiful card through e-mail
thanking me for her package along with , letting me know she was a wee-bit behind on mine.
Oh what with the Christmas season, life in general...that was absolutely fine.
Oh my, when the mail came and this big envelope was in my box from Anna I wondered
"what could be in here"?
Look at the sweet surprise and beautiful blocks!
Anna & I had emailed a couple times as well and I shared with her I had a daughter named Anna,
how fun is that.
Well, I was blessed with not one, two but three beautiful blocks!
I also received a mug-rug, ornament, felt flower, a sweet postcard about your lovely Australia and the sweetest lil-Koala bear...he is hanging on my sewing machine! Smile

These three blocks will now make my quilt top! Yeah! They are beautiful!

Thank you so much for a lovely swap Anna
Blessings~

QBSA 2014 Challenge - take the pledge

I am putting up a challenge for ALL members of QBSA for 2014.

made by Maria W
One of the things a quilter always says is that they need to finish their UFO's - so with that in mind lets all agree to make ONE ITEM in 2014, either a quilt, table runner, cushion its up to you, BUT it needs to be made with a BLOCK or BLOCKS received in a swap with QBSA.

made by Anorina M
A new page will be set up on the blog, and a file on the face book page to share the item once you have completed it.

made by Cathy C
Please comment on here to pledge your commitment to this challenge.   At the end of the year I will host a give away ( details TBA) and all of the ladies that have entered the challenge will have a chance to win.

made by Leena L
You do not need to decide now what your item will be, ALL you need to do IS pledge to take part.

January done and dusted!

SharonJ, my January partner for QBSA, is super organised and has already sent me two blocks - my request was for the Starflower block in rainbow colours on either BLACK or WHITE solids

I think she has met the brief :)  thanks Sharon

I completed the following two blocks for SharonJ

Sharon's request was for any block in purples, lavenders, greens - I hope this is acceptable :)
these blocks are packed and ready to be posted on Monday

Photo Catch-ups :)

Here are some photos of blocks I have missed blogging about:

August block from Tracey

November blocks from Encarna in Spain - finally arrived in January :)

I think Encarna's package went on a bit of a Christmas Holiday for a while before it arrived here in Australia - not too sure where it went after it was put it in the mail :(  but it was so lovely to open it and find these little gems inside :)  Thank you Encarna, it was worth the wait :)

January 12" blocks for Fiona

Fiona's brief was for a rail fence block in pastel colours. I stitched a few extra blocks to kick-start your project - just in case you are in the QBSA 2014 Challenge. Cheers, Kerry

January blocks from Fiona

Here are the gorgeous "scrappy" blocks Fiona sent me, they are called Scrapbagger and Goose Creek. Thank you for being my January swap partner, Kerry
