Worth the wait

Ruth from Idaho was my July partner, and was running a little late with her swaps, but she did keep me updated.

And lucky me, look at the two lovely blocks that arrived today.

I particularly love the second one, how perfect are all of those little triangles, just gorgeous. Thanks Ruth

My 1st block swap

I was very excited to start this swap. My 1st partner was Jan.
Jan has already posted photos of the TALL SHIP block I made for her
& the beautiful LINDA's STAR block Jan sent me.
But Jan also sent me a lovely placemat.
Thank you so much.

July swap

Carolyn was my swap partner for July and she sent me the paler pink and yellow blocks. They went missing in the post so she sent me the bright pink block. The MIA blocks found their way back home to Carolyn so she very kindly sent them to me again and this time they found me. Thanks Carolyn they are lovely and you were very kind to send so many blocks.

So spoilt

My partner for August is Erin, and she had a real play around with my selection of colours for my tropical sunset quilt.

The colours are aqua, orange, grey and white and in my mind its a sunset over an ocean. Here are the amazing blocks that I have received.

This is them grouped together

My First Tall Sailing Ship ..............

I've just changed my requested block, and my August partner Jo has sent my first sailing ship. The plan is to make a large floor cushion for my sailing grandsons [aged 8 to 13].

I just love it. Thank you so much Jo.
Jo asked for a star block in country colours. The picture shows some points that did not line up, but I did restitch the cross seam and am very pleased with the result. [Should have taken another photo before mailing]

This is the star block I sent to Jo. I hope it goes well in your project.
Happy stitching, Jan

Here is the lovely block I received from my July partner Carolyn from Iowa, along with a beautiful handmade card.
They will go nicely with the other blue and white blocks I've been collecting for a new quilt :)

And here is the August block I sent to Sue in SA who requested a scrapbuster block.

Paper piecers block swap group

Hi Ladies

I have created the blog page for our NEW paper piecers club, here is the link http://paperpiecersswapclub.blogspot.com.au/

Jump on over and follow this group, even if you are not joining it, there is sure to be an array of amazing blocks created in this group, you are only limited by your imagination.

If you are in the 6 or 12 inch group with a PP block pattern as your swap choice you will be automatically placed into this group, reserving the main groups for standard pieced blocks.

The first swap will kick off as of the end of the first week of September so there is still time to join in the fun.

CALLING ALL PAPER PIECERS

After my block swap message for the month, I have received quite a number of emails from ladies that can paper piece and wish to do PP blocks.  We currently only have a couple of members that have a PP block in their choice.  One idea is if you are paired with an "ANY BLOCK" choice then you can make a PP block for that member to get some skills in.

Like many of you, I am a new self taught paper piecer and I would love more practice at this exact method. (A number of you have emailed me saying that you would like more practice and hints on which foundation is the best to use etc).

So, I have thought, what if we had a PP swap group as a side group, like we do with the 6 inch one, so members can do a mid month swap with paper pieced blocks.

If you are interested pop a comment on this blog post so I can track the interest levels and decide if its worth setting up another small group.

The other option is for you to have one standard block choice and one PP block choice in your preferences so if you are paired with a PP lady they can opt to make this block, but it still leaves a standard block for the non PP ladies.

Appreciate your thoughts.......

Robyn & I are celebrating one year.

In August 2012 Robyn and I were partnered for the first time in the group.  We were very lucky that we are partnered up again in the August swap which means we are celebrating a one year anniversary. Isn't that just awesome!!

She is still working on tea cups as her blocks so here is the one I made for her this year. It is a smaller version of the one last year... well a little different color too.

Hope she likes it.

block update..

I realised I hadn't posted up my June block....

This Wonky Pinwheel block was sent to ChristieLeigh ....

quite a fun block and I think a whole lot of these would be very effective... and also a great way to use up scraps....
